Aluminum Stairs
As far as stairs go, if you are going to build a staircase for your house, you are going to want to use wood, concrete or a really strong metal. It depends on the house, but as far as a staircase that you will be using daily goes or a staircase that is going to be indoors, the last thing you want to do is go with aluminum stairs. Aluminum stairs should be left outside, and you should not build a very large staircase using them. This is because stairs that are made of aluminum will not be the sturdiest thing in the world. Of course if you know how to do the work yourself, cast them yourself, and do it all of solid aluminum then maybe it won’t be an issue, but just for safety reasons it might be best that you stick to using very little aluminum stairs. It might be a good idea to start small, see if that works for a while, and work up. A lot of people are going around the internet preaching about how strong aluminum is. The reality is they are mostly right, aluminum is a very strong metal and people take it for granted because others are so familiar with aluminum foil and it makes it hard to get good attention from people to understand that aluminum is not just foil and that it is actually a metal that can come in many forms, many of them stronger than you would think. They use aluminum to build skyscrapers and they use aluminum to help build the wings of airplanes and we trust our lives with the pilots of those vehicles.
The only problem is that though aluminum is strong, it is still something that you don’t want to totally trust you life to when it comes to steps. If we could avoid using aluminum for the things we use it for then we would, and aluminum is rarely the optimum choice of metal for a situation unless the decision is entirely inconsequential like what kind of metal to use for a flagpole or something like that, but stairs elevate you to an unsafe level sometimes and even if it isn’t high up, aluminum stairs can still cave and cause you to break an ankle from an inch off the ground. Don’t risk your life over these things. The best thing for you to do would be to just decide after building one or two steps whether aluminum staircases would be good for you.
