Kaiser Aluminum
Kaiser aluminum is one of the more popular aluminums out there and chances are if you live in an average household and don’t want to bother tracing back the origins of all of the metal products you buy, then you probably own plenty of Kaiser Aluminum, or products that were manufactured with their aluminum without you even knowing it. Your car is probably made with this type of aluminum, or really some type of aluminum. People see aluminum and think that it is some kind of death trap in larger vehicles. People want their cars to be made completely of steel and other insanely strong metals that they have no control over. But really it is best to have things like cars and planes be made out of a healthy amount of aluminum and if you still can’t figure out why this is, then let me explain it to you. The thing is, cars did used to be made out of stronger metals. In fact there was a certain period, right after people had figured out how to make cars attain really high speeds, and just before major wrecks in cars become an issue, where cars were nearly indestructible. You could run a car into a tree going at 20 miles per hour and see nothing but a dent. However the laws of physics would mean that this inertia, this power caused by the speed and the sudden stop would not be lost entirely to the atmosphere, it would have to transfer somewhere, and where else would this transfer but the driver?
Cars used to be made so that they didn’t crumple and wreck and become so unusable so easily and because of this people were in so much more danger than they used to be and really got hurt because of it. Eventually it was deemed safer to have the cars take a ton of damage and this was done by making the cars with materials that were likely to crumple under pressure such as Kaiser Aluminum. Also it is practical to have on planes, I mean how would the plane take off if it was weighed down by heavy metals the entire time? It would need a metal that was both decently strong and light weight. Of course aluminum is not the strongest metal out there but it is strong enough to get the job done and will not hurt anyone in doing so, and this is the most important part of any type of construction, making sure the job is done and nobody is hurt.
