Coal Fired Power Station
Perhaps, you would be very interested to learn some more facts about the way a coal fired power station works. You probably do not know much about this sort of things and it could be assumed that most of the information given will be useful and interesting.
It should, without any doubt, be started with the different ways for producing electricity. Fortunately, there is a variety of possibilities: the most practiced of them are using coals, nuclear energy; water, wind and sun energy. Each method for manufacturing electricity has got its own advantages and drawbacks.
As the coal fired power stations are an object of interest and attention, their advantages should probably mentioned first. Of course, it should be started with the fact that they are one of the first methods found out for generating electricity. In the middle of the 20th century, that kind of power stations were the only one available, even in countries such as the United States, France, German, UK and others.
However, the coal power stations have their disadvantages also. And, by the way, these disadvantages are not insignificant at all. What we had better start with is probably the rate of cost of the energy. Undoubtedly, the electricity produced by this method used is most expensive, especially when compared to the alternative sources of energy (solar panels, wind turbines and others). When using solar panels or wind turbines, only an initial ‘investment’ is made. After all, there is nothing else but extremely small expenses for maintenance. That means that the electricity is practically free! Meanwhile, when using the so called coal fired power stations, hundreds of tons of coal are needed every day. That costs a lot of money which makes it unsurprising that the electricity’s price is constantly going up.
And the price is just one of the many problems which occur during the process of generating electricity by coal power stations. Nobody should forget that the coal used for energy burns and hundreds of millions of tons gases are released into atmosphere. The air is polluted and people living around such a power station often suffer from diseases such as asthma, lung cancer and have other respiratory problems. At the same time, the solar panels, the wind turbines and even the nuclear reactors are absolutely environmentally friendly. Also, the risk is decreased to a minimal level when those methods for generating electricity are used.
