Coal Mines In Pennsylvania
The thing that makes coal mines in Pennsylvania so special is that it was the first place where anthracite coal was discovered. Anthracite coal is a type of coal with a very high luster. It burns slow and gives off an extremely intense heat that no other coal has been able to come close to. While this may not seem like that much of an advantage to most people, once electric companies heard about this, they knew that coal mines in Pennsylvania possessed something special. This was a product that you couldn’t find anywhere else for the time being. Later it was discovered that there were other places in the world where anthracite coal was available, but in Pennsylvania it was especially available. They were able, in fact, to forge out entire mines based on obtaining only anthracite coal. This coal was more expensive by a small margin but because of its slow burning properties, would end up making more money for the electric companies in the long run because they would be able to use one stock of coal for much longer than normal. Not only that, but the heat was stronger, meaning the intensity of the steam would also be stronger and would give people something that would be truly lasting in the way of electricity.
It is funny that this was discovered as early as the late 1970’s too. Most people that worked in coal mines in Pennsylvania could not have been too educated. It would be funny to imagine that they just looked at this new coal and determined that not only was it an anomalous type of coal that had special properties but that it was a different type of coal all together that deserved to have its own names and the properties of which were unique enough to afford it its own name. It is true that Anthracite coal is not the best coal there is. Clean coal is better alternative to anthracite coal over all because even though anthracite coal has a stronger ability to last longer, the same can also be said for clean coal. In many ways these two are alike because they are both clean in that they possess fewer impurities. It is just that with safety protocols, anthracite coal must be cleaned and purified anyway, so why not just get the stuff that you know has been purified by men and are sure is safe to use rather than gambling and relying on the safeness of natural coal that may for all intents and purposes not actually be all that safe?
