Coal Price Forecast
The coal price forecast for the future seems to be set to only continue going up for years to come. The sad fact is we, and when I say we, I mean the entire world, but we have been running out of coal for some time now. It may sound like we actually have quite a bit. Projections state that millions and billions of tons of coal are moving out every year, and some of these figures are coming from single mine operations. These large figures are somewhat misleading though. Because though it sounds like a lot (I mean millions of tons of coal, we can hardly even fathom how much that would be, that would make mountains and mountains of coal) you also have to take into account the increasing demand for coal. The increasing demand for coal means that though our coal seems to be in high number, because of how fast those coals are all being used, the coal price forecast just increases. This is why even though we are discovering new mines day by day and coming up with new faster ways of obtaining coal, the coal price forecast does not seem se to change for decades and decades. In fact it is likely that it will keep increasing to a point where we just cannot manage anymore and coal will be too expensive to purchase at all.
This price forecast leads us to believe that though it is still low now, based on the rate of increase since as early as 2003, it is only set to get higher and higher in the price ranks. People may think that that isn’t a big issue because few people use coal in their daily lives. A lot of people would be surprised to know just how much of their electricity comes from coal daily. About 40% of electricity supplied worldwide is coal based and whether you feel the pain of the cost of coal directly or not, once the electric companies get charged more to buy coal, they’re also going to charge you more for your electricity to make up the cost. They’re not simply going to let profit go to the heavens or just take that as a loss. They will charge you more and you will feel the effects whether you like it or not. So good, be worried, they way you’ll know just how important coal really is and how important it is that we get out of this cycle of needing coal so badly.
