Coal Thermal Power Plant

Perhaps, most of you have heard of the coal thermal power plant since they used to be a main way for producing thermal energy in the past. Hopefully, you have paid serious attention to the word ‘past’ as it is a fact that the coal power factories are not as commonly used nowadays as they used to be. Do you know what the reason is? Undoubtedly, the coal thermal power plant was a great way for heating the home and there were whole towns and provinces which used the power of such plants.

But if they were so commonly used, why did we stop using them? You do not need to be a genius to come up with the idea that the coal is a source of energy which pollutes the air and does a lot of harm to the environment. In fact, using the coal thermal power is one of the worst ways for generating electricity (or whatever else) because it does ‘double harm’ to the planet. First of all, the process of obtaining the coal (they need to be obtained before they are used) is proved to be very damaging for the soil. But that is not everything: when the coals are used as a source of power, there are a number of unneeded gases, one of which is the carbon dioxide. Undoubtedly, you know that the carbon dioxide is responsible for one of the most serious problems we have ever faced- the global warming.

In conclusion, a coal thermal power plant is one of the main polluters of the air and the environment in general. It is certainly a serious drawback but it should be mentioned that there are also some positives which the coal thermal factories have got. Just think logically: if there were not any advantages, they would not still exist, even though in a much small amount than before. So one of the greatest advantages is that coal is one of the cheapest materials and we are not going to run out of it soon. Unfortunately, the same could not be said about many other materials whose usage has even been increasing for the past years.

Another advantage which a coal thermal power plant has is that it is a sure long-term source of energy produced by the usage of coal. Hopefully, you understand that many other resources do not own the same characteristic like the alternative sources of energy for example.
