Wood And Coal Burning Stoves
The difference between wood and coal burning stoves is that a wood burning stove is less powerful and won’t burn for as long as a coal burning stove might. Also it takes more wood than it does coal to form a respectable fire, and also coal is easier to manage in a fire than big wood logs, so if you want to adjust your coal fire it is as simple as taking a steel shovel and getting some of those coals out of there or inserting a few more in. If you want to adjust a wood stove then you need to probably use a giant pair of forceps and even then you might still have problems with it. This is something that must really be taken account when choosing between wood and coal burning stoves. Fortunately there are some stoves out there that are suitable for burning both, that would probably be called a wood and coal burning stove, and there are also some out there that are specifically manufactured to do both. Before rushing out there to buy this type of dual burning stove though it might be a good idea to see whether your stove that you currently on can handle both wood and coal. If so then you might save yourself some time and money by sticking with the one you have and then using it to do both jobs. This is very feasible and a real possibility.
If not then you might want to look into investing on one of those better models. Most stoves these days are electric anyway, but if you want that authentic look and feel you must remember to get one with proper ventilation. Though coal can be good for burning it can also be harmful in some way and you never want to use unclean or unwashed coal. But if your system has a decent ventilation system it might be possible to use some unclean coal and not have to worry as much about the side effects. I am not fully condoning the usage of unclean coal; I am just saying that a good ventilation system can take away a lot of the dangers and worries that unclean coal will cause. Don’t cheap out on a stove that you think might fit your needs but isn’t the best one. You will be thanking yourself later for sticking with quality. This way you will know that you are getting a good product that will help you burn both wood and coal equally and safely.
