Copper Water Pipe

When searching for what you might want in pipe, you need to know what types of pipes can handle what types of liquids interacting with them. Some are less corrosive than others and some are more. When dealing with anything that is going to be built in the ocean, it is never a good idea to use copper water pipe, because contrary to the term water pipe, the metal is actually highly corrosive in salt water and will easily degrade and become useless in no time. As far as other water is concerned though, copper water pipe should be fine. These days though it might be better to conserve copper for the future when it becomes even more expensive, that way you can sell all your copper in pristine condition for oodles of cash instead of waiting for the stuff to become degraded from years of use.

The truth is, any pipe would work fine in place of copper water pipe as long as it is not poisonous like lead pipes and as long as it can be well maintained. It is arguable as to whether copper water pipe is maintainable or not because to clean it out thoroughly, one would have to open up their machine entirely and fill it with cleaning agents once every 6 months at least to make sure no further corrosion occurred on the inside of the copper water pipe. This is a level of maintenance that most people don’t feel comfortable keeping up with, which is why people stick with cheaper metals. Because those can be allowed to corrode and if they finally do corrode then they can be easily replaced, unlike copper which is a lot more expensive and rare.

One thing that you can consider when deciding what type of pipe you need is that a pipe that is made out of an alloy between copper and nickel is actually very resistant to all kinds of malignant erosion. This type of alloy is used commonly on the hulls of boats and other such marine construction. This is not the only type of copper pipe, and it has a special name that is not just regular copper, but it is a good alternative because most copper piping is made out of other types of metals too anyway. This way we know that we can have the color and shine of copper, with the durability and strength of other types of metals such as manganese, iron, zinc, and many more too.
