Hho Fuel
I know you heard of being able to triple your fuel economy by burning the hydrogen from water in your car, producing an HHO fuel. You also probably heard that you can buy these kits on eBay and other websites that you can install yourself. What you probably didn’t hear is that these gizmos DO NOT work. Or so says Mike Allen, the senior automotive editor to the magazine Popular Mechanics. “It’s rubbish!” he says.
Mike Allen even went as far as contacting a member of NBC’s Dateline news program to explain himself and prove once and for all that this is total “Bupkis”. Although in theory it is possible, we just haven’t figured out how to do this correctly and efficiently. Mike Allen has stated that he has tried hundreds of gadgets that claim HHO fuel works and none of them have been proven to be effective – none of them. He has received letters, emails, voice mails and even faxes about this unproven theory (and some of them were not so polite). They accused Allen of not assembling the device correctly and/or even working for the automotive industry trying to fool the public that these contraptions don’t work. Well, enough was enough, so that’s when he contacted NBC’s Dateline to finally put this theory to the test, and what better witness than a news program from NBC?
First, everybody needed to agree on what vehicle to try this on. It was agreed to let the show’s producer buy the car and what drove in? It was a five-year old Honda Accord. Allen looked the car over carefully and agreed to apply the hydrogen generator and other electronic gadgets to it – but by another professional installer. They took the car for a road test and measured the fuel being used by professionals from the EPA and got measurements within a 1% margin of error. Then the hydrogen generator was installed (correctly) and another test was issued. Even though according to the receipts from gas stations that the Honda Accord was reaching 96 mpg, the professionals at the EPA facility had something different to say. They claim that not only did the hydrogen generator did not work, but actually used more gas! What?
So, before you go and purchase one of these hogwash contrivances, look online and find the NBC Dateline program on hydrogen generators and you be the judge.
