Hydrogen Technologies

Hydrogen technologies have gained a lot of popularity for the last years. Do you have any idea what the reason is? Most likely, you do! That’s the huge problem which our generation is facing: the global warming. It has been proved that the temperature of Earth is gradually increasing which results in melting of large ice mass on the North Pole and South Pole. However, not only has it been proved that temperatures are increasing but also that the human’s activity is causing it. By ‘activity of humans’, you should understand things like using too much electricity (more than needed), using vehicles which emit large amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, cutting billions of trees off every year, and so on, and so on.

The truth is that the harmful activities could be generalized in just a few words. Everything which people do resulting in emissions of greenhouse gases (such as methane, carbon dioxide and others) and decreasing the number of our oxygen providers (the trees and all plants) is considered ‘harmful’! But what you might have found interesting is the idea about greenhouse effects. Perhaps, you do not know what it is or even if you know, you do not know why it is caused. Fortunately, it’s very simple but as you probably have realized, it is very dangerous also. Basically, when the sun rays (the solar energy) arrives on the Earth, part of it is absorbed but most of it is reflected by the Earth. So the sun rays (and the energy and warmth that comes with them) are back on their way into the open space but the greenhouse gases do not let them leave the planet. That’s how the constant temperature’s increasing is caused. It sounds really simple but it is such a difficult problem to cope with at the same time.

Fortunately, the hydrogen technologies are another step into the path called ‘global warming solution’. Hydrogen is already used as a replacement for fuel. There are even cars and planes which use hydrogen instead of diesel, methane or any other greenhouse gases. Obviously, the hydrogen technologies have contributed a lot to the decrease of such gases (mainly as fuel for vehicles). The only thing which everybody can hope for is that this tendency will continue and, who knows, one day we may even have forgotten about the problem we had to solve. And we will wonder how we let that happen. However, those are nothing else but presumptions.
