Coal Mine Safety

Mines are very dangerous places to hang around aimlessly. Many deaths have been reported on these sites and some of these deaths have been caused due to the negligence of the people involved or even a wrong advice from the engineers. It is important for any person visiting any mine to adhere to all rules and regulations, for instance, everybody visiting a mine site must have a coat and a safety helmet.

The Government of most countries through the mining act has enforced rules and regulations that should be observed at any mine. The safety rules will include thorough inspections of the coal mines. These inspections include complete inspection of the underground coal mines which is done annually for most coal sites.

 

Other set of coal mining inspections are inspection of the surface coal mine areas and this includes investigating serious and fatal and non fatal accidents safety procedures. The inspection seeks for personnel to demonstrate and cite mine safety regulations. The law also allows acting personnel to visit safety and health conferences so as to learn new techniques to handle accidents.

 

There are various programs that are a must for safety personnel’s at the mines to master. Every safety personnel must have shown and proved to the human resource staff that they can be able to handle emergency scenarios.

 

In the United States there is a coal and mine staff organization that has been establish to make sure that rules and regulations on health and safety issues are observed in every mining company. The headquarters of these companies are located in Arlington, Virginia. The headquarters consist of the health division, safety division, and the administration offices. The organization has 45 other field offices located all around the country and these offices are located in coal mining towns to help establish its mandate.

 

There is a hierarchy of operation - the 11 districts are headed by a district manager whose sole role is to find and compile information gathered by his staff and make a report. The report is sent to the administrator at the Safety and Health organization. It is reported that there are 2100 coal mines all around the country states.

 

The Safety and Health organization is a non profit making organization charged up with these responsibilities. They have powers to report against a coal mine that does not adhere to set safety health regulations. Stern legal actions are taken against these companies.
