Copper Mining History

Copper is metal which is extracted from copper mines. In chemistry its chemical sign is cu and its atomic number is 29. It's a ductile metal with high electrical and thermal conductivity. The color of the metal is peach or pinkish. In nature copper is only found in open pit mines and in earlier ancient days copper was also used in various things like making coins etc. copper is a valuable metal and this metal has been mined from decades.

Mining history is very broad and interesting. In earlier times peoples used to mine these metals using tolls which are not so technically advanced and they used to make weapons with the help of these metals. In modern world latest machinery and modern science has given a completely new and improved look to mining. Modern mining is completely different from the old age mining as the tools have been replaced by advanced heavy machineries and the use of these metals have also changed a lot.

In earlier days copper mining and specially refining was done manually with the help of different processes but in modern times refining is done completely in factories and refining centres. The refining process has also changed and in the modern mining refining is done with much more ease. Copper was extracted with the help of equipments which are hand made but in modern mining miners use advanced cutters and shearers which are much faster than the old handmade tools.

Copper mines are present in this world from a very long time. With the help of radio carbon dating scientists have detected that copper mining was done in this mines from last 1000- 2000 years ago that means that even the Romans and other civilization has also mined copper from this mines. Copper mining was invented long back ago and this process was carried on for a very long time. Copper used items are even found today in the ruins of some civilization which clearly shows that copper was invented at that time. Copper was always treated as precious metals and they have been used extensively in the use of metal related weapons, utensils, and many other jewelry items. Today the use of copper has changed a lot and copper has different use in different forms of metal related things. The copper metal is known from ages and in the coming years also copper will be in demand.
