Offshore Oil Rig
Offshore oil rigs are basically referred as exploration and up gradation of petroleum industry, the main operation within the processes id drilling. Different drilling procedures vary with subject to surface and sub-surface of a particular location, but there are only three types of mobile platforms for drilling in oceans or deep water.
1. Jack-up barges.
2. Semi-submersibles
3. And Drillships
Jack-up Barges: A jack-up barge is one from the type's mobile rigs which are designed to stand stagnant on the sea bed with long leg support immersed in the deep water. The majority of accepted designs are 3 independent legs, coupled to the hull; Hulls are the legs which hold the ships or the platforms safe high above the water level.
A semi-submersible is a specialized marine vessel (water craft vessel to move in an out in fresh and salty water) with first-class immovability and healthy characters. The semi-submersible vessel design is usually used for various precise offshore drilling rigs, safety vessels, oil producing platforms and heavy cranes. Such types of vessels are known as semi-submersible of semi-sub or semi.
Characteristics of Semi-submersibles: Semi-submersibles are normally configured with large jaunty structures below the surface of water and slim columns travelling throughout the water surface sustaining a platform deck at a momentous height above the surface of the sea. A semi-submersible rigs make the platforms secured for the important process of drilling for offshore oil and gas craft may be able to alter from a deep to a shallow draft (Draft is a distance (vertical) between the water line to the bottom of hull.) by removing the weight of water from the hull, and finally becomes a surface vessel. Thus semi-submersible is least affected by the heavy banging's of the waves as compared to the normal ships, however, the semi-submersible is sensitive to the variations of loads, and hence must be extra cautiously trimmed to sustain solidity. In contrast to submarine or submersible, a semi-submersible vessel is never entirely underwater due to its limited capability.
Drill ship: A drillship is a marine vessel which is engineered with drilling equipments, and is mainly used for exploration of deep water oil wells. Operations such maintenance of wells and finishing operations for example Casing, Tube installation, Sub-sea tree installation are carried out economically and ethically. The greatest advantage of these modest drillships is their ability to drill in depths nearly 2500 meters in a short span

Based on my exceptional interpersonal skills, hardworking attitude, and problem solving capabilities, I am confident that I would be a great addition to an oil rig. I am a Mississippi State University Mechanical Engineer graduate, and I would have NO problem driving 5+ hours to work sites or working hands-on under pressure or severe weather conditions in the field. Thanks & Regards, (tj99@msstate.edu)
