Oil Rig Jobs Uk
The United Kingdom is comprised of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. In the United Kingdom the oil and gas industry thrives on the offshore drilling rigs located in the North Sea. The United Kingdom is a major force in the European oil and gas industry. The United Kingdom produces the majority of the crude oil in Europe. In the United Kingdom there are thirty six oil rigs in the North Sea vector. The off shore oil rigs in the North Sea offer hundreds of oil rig jobs. The oil rigs have to operate twenty four hours a day. The majority of the oil rigs used in the United Kingdom is the semi-submersible type. This is the preferred type of rig to use in the North Sea because of the depths it can drill. The semi submersible can drill up to five thousand feet. The semi- submersible is also moveable; it moves from one drilling location to the next by floating on the waves. There are other types of oil rigs used in the United kingdom's North Sea for example; the platform: which is an immobile structure made of concrete or steel and rests on the sea bed. Next there is the jack up: this is a mobile drilling rig. The jack up has legs that lift the rig out of the water to move to the next spot. However, the jack up is not good in deep waters. Also there is the drill ship; this is a drilling vessel that is shaped like ship. The drill ship is not as stable as a semi-submersible but is capable of drilling in deep waters. Also there are flotels; which are converted semi - submersibles that provide extra crew accommodations. Then there are the floating production and storage units; which produces and stores oil until another tanker takes it from them. The North Sea vector in the United Kingdom has been under exploration for over thirty years. In the North Sea, there are approximately three hundred more locations to be explored for oil, which means a great outlook for oilrig jobs in the future of the United Kingdom.
