The demand for global oil is growing and has grown steadily for years. This means that the jobs needed to produce the oil is also growing. It take a very large labor force to produce the oil needed to fuel the world, and to get the oil needed to make goods produced with oil. It all starts on the oil rigs.

Oil is everywhere in the world, but it has to be found. Once the geologists find the oil, its up to the oil rigs and crew to drill and pump the oil from the ground. Oil rigging jobs are very diverse. It takes many talents, skills and education to make an oil rig run and be efficient. It takes several professionals such as engineers, both mechanical, and electrical, as well as skilled and unskilled labor. Some of the labor force is related to the industry, but many of the jobs available are not even related to the industry.

Working on an oil rig is not only a job, it's a lifestyle. Most rig workers are gone for weeks at a time, so their job becomes 24 hours a day, They work sleep, and eat on the rig, and usually work 14 or more days in a row. They do get plenty of time in between sometimes up to 3 weeks off in between their shifts. This is to allow them some normalcy, and rest because the work can be long and hard, and difficult.

Most oil companies provide great accommodations while on duty. Good food, and lodging is usually included in their pay. Travel time and pay is usually included since travel is very common in the oil rig business The pay for oil rig workers exceed most starting pay for many professions. Its very common for a skilled labor worker to have $50000 a year starting salary, maybe as high as $70000. Professional positions may exceed $100000 to start, with many pay raise with time served. The higher salaries are to balance out the traveling, hard labor, and being gone for weeks a t a time.

There are dozens of websites that contain information on oil rigging jobs. Some of the sites are strictly for the oil industry.. Oil jobs are global so the market is one of the largest form of employment on the planet. It you are willing to travel and love adventure, and oil rig job is a good choice.
