History Of Petroleum

Petroleum is a word that is used to describe hydrocarbons, this hydrocarbons are organic residue that exist deep down the earth crust, primary this organic residue might have existed as living microscopic organs, that lived millions of years ago, Hydrocarbons would then have formed, through the high exertion of pressure and underground heat on these organic residue, forming tiny droplets of oil which then migrated through tiny pores in tocks to settle in porous rocks deep down the earths crust.

These porous rock holding these oil, or rather crude oil are called the parent reservoir rocks, the crude oil exist in high pressures, pressure is what aids the extraction of crude oil, when pressure is lowered at the reservoirs rock then the introduction of low pressures allows oil flow up to the earths surface. Low pressures are introduced when the oil drilling engineers drill down the earth crust to this reservoir rock. The holes are what introduce low pressure pass out that results to 'gushers' as it is know in the industry. Crude oil and natural gas is what is extracted in this exploration.

Extracted crude oil is normally very hot due to the underground heat, however the temperature the n cools after if reaches the earths surface, its very important for personnel extracting these natural resource to be very careful death have been reported in some cases because of negligence or error of some sort, however engineers are well trained personnel, their training thoroughly covers ethics to be observed d in a rig platform or oil well In that matter.

Crude oil will exist as mixture of many compounds, which includes petroleum liquids and gas, hence crude oil will be termed as dirty, until its processed and every petroleum product removed. Crude in itself is of no value, the value is in its byproducts.

Every process of extraction activities, to production is known in different names, for example, the word 'upstream' will be used to describe activities that involve explorations and production, the 'midstream' on the other hand will mean activities in that involve transpiration of the petroleum products and by products, the down stream are activities that involve, refining of the petroleum products, marketing of it and eventual distribution.

This processes are very detailed and complicated more than they are mentioned here, one can get more information about these on the oil producing companies, however information is not easily given, every company runs operation in outmost confidentiality ,however you may be lucky to get information try it.
