Petroleum Engineering Department
Petroleum Engineering is a vast field with many more sections or departments in to it. The Petroleum Engineering department has gradually developed over time and this gradual development may be termed as the evolution of Petroleum Engineering.
The areas which were eventually developed were four in number:
Petro physical Engineering
All of these branches have seen influx of engineers from all the different sub sections of engineering. Mechanical, Civil, Geological, Electrical and Chemical engineers have all freely entered in to the Petroleum engineering field and they have contributed significantly to this field. But finally the Petroleum Engineer was left with the job of efficiently integrating all of them and their contributions in to one system. This system finally worked in the efficient oil and gas drilling, production and processing of oil.
Drilling was the first field of Petroleum Engineering where modern technology was applied. The Drilling Engineer applies his expertise in drilling of the earth and to use casing and safety equipment and also to supervise or over look the drilling operations. He has to understand the nature of the rocks which are to be drilled, the amount of stress that would be present in the rocks and also the techniques to uncover the under ground oil reserves.
The Production engineer starts his work after the drilling engineer has completed his work of drilling the earth. Now the production engineer has to over look the intervals in which the oil would be extracted and also the various procedure and equipments involved in it He is also supposed to measure and regulate the fluids which are produced, mainly oil, gas and water. His work also involves gathering and storing of all the produce and also designing the equipments meant for these purposes. Now he needs to manage the transport of the raw products, which is mainly oil and gas, to the pipeline companies and other transportation agencies. He also has to take care of the well performance, anti corrosion activities and work out the different ingenious ways to keep on stimulating new production.
Reservoir Engineer has an important work of prediction of the oil and gas reservoir performance, over looking the efficient drainage of the produce and also to suggest methods to improve production. He studies the most important part of the Petroleum Process that is the relation between the rock and the fluid, the various hydro dynamic, thermo dynamic and gravitational forces involved in the whole process.
Whether onshore or off, oil rigs require workers to operate from various heights. In order to be able to work at these heights, oil rigs need scaffolding and platforms built by qualified construction crews known as scaffolders. All rigs require some elements of scaffolding to work from and it...
