Alaska Oil Jobs

Alaska is one of those extraordinary places where there is an abundance of oil that everyone wants to make money. It is also one of the leading oil producing states within the United States. The need for employees is never ending, as it is such a vast industry incorporating most of the Alaskan people. One could think of it as a throw back to the California Gold Rush days in the late 1800's.

A time in the history of the United States when men came from all around to make their way to California with the dream of becoming rich through long, painstaking, hard work and sacrifice. The lure today is also the amount of pay all individuals will receive for their dedication and hard work. There are three main areas of concentration in regards to the oil industry and the types of positions offered to various employees.

1. Trans-Alaska Pipeline System or TAPS

2. The Alaska Natural Gas Pipeline Project

3. Controversy and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

The Trans-Alaska Pipeline was a creation y well over seventy thousand individuals who made extreme sacrifices in such a horrid climate in the mid 1970's. Thousands upon thousands of employees remain in employ and the corporation welcomes new employees every year. There is much maintenance and needed repairs done on a constant basis. The climate is harsh and offers little yield so the rough and ready individuals are all in need.

Tremendous employment opportunities will soon be in need as new ideas and dreams become reality with the transportation of the natural gas out of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. The contract to develop this project has already signaled a beginning and the list of current and future employees is growing larger every day. Well-educated engineers of all kinds are in large demand as are other potential positions.

Exploration in new territories to find clean and safe ways to extract the abundance of oil constantly is in the exploration mode. The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is one that many individuals outside of Alaska have heard of because of the controversial plans to excavate for oil. The difference is today we have the technology to work the land without causing undue harm to the wildlife or to the environment. The employment opportunities are endless and will remain so for year to come.
