The cost and labor to get the product to the consumer is enormous. This is because the industry has so many levels of production. The oil and gas has to be explored f, tested, drilled, transported, refined, and shipped to the consumer.

Engineers, chemists and other professionals are constantly trying to learn and develop new technology on how to produce and pump more oil to meet the demands of the world.
