Oil Jobs

The oil and natural gas industry is a huge sector where lot of lucrative jobs are available and skilled personnel are always in demand. Even people who are just starting can find oil jobs and can start their careers in the petroleum industry. There are many types of oil jobs and they are categorised into three sectors. The first category covers oil jobs that are related to exploration of oil, drilling operations and the extraction process. The second category includes oil jobs that are connected with transporting the crude oil and its refining process. The third category is more to do with marketing and selling of various oil products.

Chemical engineers, geophysicists, pipeline walkers, drilling engineers, production engineers and many other qualified people can take up oil jobs. There is a tremendous demand for oil in the world and new oil wells are discovered rarely. The oil prices per barrel is rising steadily and oil companies want to make the most of the wells and oil fields that have been discovered. Companies are investing more money to build oil rigs, which means more oil jobs are available.

Oil jobs involving offshore drilling, pay well as there is danger and isolation involved in most of them. Working on an oil rig is not easy and you will have to put up with certain physical hardships. You can be stuck in the middle of the ocean for a period ranging anywhere between 15 to 45 days. The isolation can get to you in the beginning and you will be seeing and socialising with the same co-workers for the period you are on the rig. So if you are physically and mentally tough, and love a challenging career, oil jobs are the thing you need to apply.

To apply for oil jobs you should have your resume or CV ready along with your certificates and testimonials of previous jobs. You will also most probably need a passport as there are many oil jobs available outside the country as well. The best place to start is to enroll in a placement company which specialises in oil jobs. There are many such placement companies and you can find many online which will make it easy for you to submit your resume to many of these companies. Many of these placement companies will also give you guidance on what oil jobs you should apply for, according to your qualifications. People from all over the world have found very lucrative oil jobs through these placement companies.
