Gas and oil companies have been around for over a 100 years, and so many brands have come and gone. Some oil brands just disappeared or dissolved while others have merged with other companies, and their name has changed.. The there are some that have been around for many years. Some oil companies market their product under different names, but are essentially the same product. Marketing concepts in certain areas of the country may be the reason for using different names, or its just because the names are familiar to the consumer so the oil companies decide to keep them .

Texaco is a retail oil and gas product that began as Texas Fuel Company began in 1901It was a completely independent oil company till 2001 , exactly a 100 years later, they merged with the Chevron Oil company. Texaco was the only gas company that for many years was the only one that sold their product in all 50 states. Many gas companies to date do this now.. Texaco also had a motor oil brand that they called "Havoline", which now is also a part of the Chevron Corporation.

Texaco's main headquarters was in Harrison NY until the merger with Chevron in 2001 In 2002 Chevron closed the NY office and sold the property to Morgan Stanley. The Texaco operation was moved to the main headquarters of the Chevron Corporation.

Texaco gas station are still in many areas of the country. Many of them are convenience stores, that offer food products, and other goods and services. Gone are the old green and white signs. The new Texaco gas stations are brightly colored and are state of the art gas and convenient stores. Many people still love the Texaco brand in the US because of their loyalty to buying an American product.

Havoline oil is also a part of the Texaco legacy. Quick change oil stores have emerged over the last 15 years, just like fast food restaurants. Havoline oil has opened many quick change oil shops, which are franchised owned and carry the Havoline products. other gas and oil companies have joined the bandwagon opening up their own oil change shops, to get a piece of the profit These shops have emerged because of the decrease of full service stations, and because of the fast paced life that people live.
