Stainless Steel Wire

When talking about wires, most of you certainly come up with one chemical element at first place: copper. Come on, don’t deny it! Copper is, without any doubt, the element most associated with stuff like wires, electronics and conductors. That is why you may be truly amazed to learn that the stainless steel wire also has a lot of usages in our everyday living.

What you are probably thinking right now is that the stainless steel wire is just a cheaper alternative of the copper wire. It does not offer any advantages over our old friend- the copper. But its usage has increased because of the financial crisis so that the companies could save money. All of those are interesting assumptions but wrong! There is no doubt that the copper has a lot of positives when compared with the stainless steel but it should be also admitted that the steel can offer a lot of stuff which copper cannot.

Yes, it is a fact that all of the electronic conductors and many kinds of wires and cabals are made out of copper. That is because copper is the best conductive material on the Earth. Well the silver is the only one better than it but let’s hope that you all understand why it is not used (it is because of its high price). It is true that the steel is not as good conductor as copper but it can offer many other positives.

For example, a stainless steel wire is much hardier than the copper wires. That is why copper is not a preferred material when it comes to wires which will undergo tough conditions- high humidity, interacting with water, oxygen environment, environment with other gases. Talking about that, it must be mentioned that the stainless steel has the amazing quality not to interact with any other chemical element. That makes it perfect when the wires will be placed in uncertain conditions (conditions which could not be predicted and are unknown). In such, and other similar, cases using the stainless steel wire is certainly the most appropriate decision to make no matter whether you think that copper is the best material to use for wires or not. Just ask a professional in this area of expertise and you will see what the answer will be. Furthermore, the price of these wires is not at all as high as you are probably thinking.
