Structural Steel Design
Introduction to Steel Design
Steel is commonly used in the construction industry. Its main purpose is to create a skeleton structure which the foundation is built upon. It is important that this structure be strong and long lasting. The structural steel design of the building will determine the end result and has to be built with utmost care. The reason steel is chosen over plastics and other composite materials are due to its environmental friendly nature as it cannot be warped or deformed easily. Structural steel designed buildings do not contract or shrink under high pressure. This is due to the nature of the material itself. Steel is highly versatile and has more strength than any other material. It is also easily transportable and can be setup in almost any terrain and weather condition. Many companies tend to oversee the construction process to prevent any errors. There are many factors to consider when steel designing is being undertaken. Some of these factors are steel connections, steel column design, steel reinforcement, steel roofing and designs of player girders. These factors need to calculated and accommodated for within the budget and design schematics. When considering what types of steel to use the ASD and LFRD need to be considered. Both of these factors determine its strength. ASD or allowable strength design is the design philosophy used by engineering. The main goal in this discipline is to ensure that the steel is capable of handling loads without exceeding the elastic limit. Surpassing this limit may cause structural damage to the skeleton and can create a dangerous situation if not immediately replaced.
Structural steel is construction profile for companies that cater to the construction industry. Structural steel is treated and mixed with alloys to increase its levels of tolerance to heat and chemicals that can cause harm to the skeletal structure on exposure. Several types of structural steel are used in structural steel design these are I-beams, Z-shapes and HSS-shapes. These are used to complete and connect linear steel beams to other forms and shapes of structural steel. The structural steel design must be calculated before purchasing the required materials. Each region uses different standards when it comes to structural steel. Europe uses different varieties of steel when compared with other major countries such as USA and Japan. The thermal properties of steel make it a favorite in many construction companies. Steel can withstand a temperature below 900 Celsius before it begins to deform and crystallize. Coating steel with fireproof paints also helps keep the building steady during fires and explosions. Fireproofing steel is also known as external insulation and is used to prevent the steel from weakening under high temperatures. Fire proof plaster such as polystyrene and gypsum are commonly used chemicals used to insulate steel.

Painter
This job is more technical than most people may take it to be, painting as an art has existed since ages ago. A painter will come as a house painter or a decorator, they both have different styles of working that's why the variety in names, its not a strange...
