Honeywell Wind Turbine
The Honeywell wind turbine is a new wind turbine that is still in development and scheduled to hit stores sometime in early 2011. It looks somewhat like a electrical fan except it is black and gray instead of the standard white and is much bigger. A sophisticated system of magnets and motors control the Honeywell wind turbine and make sure that it is always moving at a speed that is okay for it and that it does not get overloaded. This turbine is meant to be mass produced and will soon be featured in the same appliances section you see with all the refrigerators and ovens and such that the Honeywell company is associated with. It is reported that this can supply up to 1/3 of the electricity needed by a home for a year. This may not seem like a lot, but imagine buying three of these and it will make sense why you would want to buy three of them. It costs 6,000 dollars to buy one and about 3,000 dollars for installation, which would total a rounded off 30,000 after all taxes are applied and everything if you wanted to install enough to power the entire house solely on wind energy, but consider this, the average electric bill is about 150 dollars per month and sometimes a lot more, reaching into the 250 or 350 figures. Over the course of anywhere from 10-30 years you will end up making all of that money back. And even though you’ll be paying bills on that turbine for a while, you’ll never have to see another electric bill in your life.
They estimate that you only need winds at about 10-12 miles per hour in order for the machine to run in continuous operation, but this is typical of most places, and the device can handle winds of up to 140 miles per hour. In addition to this because the government wants to lend a helping hand to anyone that wants to try to cut down their coal usage, you will get all kinds of rebates and tax deductions and it will probably end up costing you a lot less than you actually paid for it. If you have the extra cash it might not be a bad idea to get one just to see if it really was powerful enough to be able to power all of the household appliances without any hold ups or issues on either side. If it is then you might want to keep it. It is a good investment and will lessen your electric bills for years to come.
