Wind Power Pros And Cons

Now that we are in an age where coal is going to become a no longer viable source of energy in the near future, it is beginning to be time to start to discuss the wind power pros and cons as well as other options we have available to us, if any. There are many wind power pros and cons in a list. One of the most powerful pros to wind power is that it is a completely free source of energy. You don’t have to pay anything in order to get wind service. Wind is something that happens and is a natural byproduct of other things. There is nothing you or anyone else has to do in order to get wind to work; you are just taking advantage of it. Another major pro to wind power is that it is completely renewable. In fact that may not even be the correct terminology since there is never a use for it in the first place; it is something that merely happens. You do not use it and then it renews later like water, it is something that is constantly happening and it is not a visible concrete thing. But regardless, coal is just about the opposite of that because we know we will not have coal forever, so we need to transition to wind power fast of we want to survive.

Relating to the wind power pros and cons though it is probably important to discuss the cons of which there are two major cons. The first major con is the fact that the wind powered devices cost a lot of money, or to be precise the generators do. The gigantic generators that are powerful enough to generate enough power for an entire city are too expensive and large and impractical for a person to ever make use of in a residential household. And the ones that are designed specifically for domestic purposes are so small that they only end up generating 1/3 of the electricity used by the common household in a year. This means you will still be paying electric bills. That is the other con. The things are not big enough to do what you need them to do unless they get to a point where they are so big that you can’t do anything with them anymore. And if they are not so big then they are too small to do anything and too unreasonably expensive at around ten thousand dollars for a product that is just big enough to power only 1/3 of the houses electrical needs over the course of a year.
