Wind Turbine Design
Perhaps, most of you have heard of the wind turbines as they have gained a lot of popularity for the past several years. However, most of the people do not seem to know much about the so called wind turbine design. If you are one of the many people, you should not worry so much as there is nothing to be ashamed of: it is just facts which you do not know and nothing more. Fortunately, you can learn them all by spending 5 minutes and reading the article to the end.
So let’s start with the wind turbine design. When talking about it, you certainly think about the parts which a wind turbine has got, it is just what you associate it with and that is normal! Anyway, what should be mentioned now in chronological order are the parts which a wind turbine just cannot work without. It is not difficult to come up with the idea that the wind turbine design should consist of all these parts also otherwise it would be useless.
Undoubtedly, one of the main parts which cannot remain unmentioned is the generator. That is right: each wind turbine has a generator otherwise it would not be able to use the wind power. Obviously, it is wind-powered generator as it used the energy of the wind and turns it into electricity. Producing electricity is the main purpose and aim of every wind turbine and wind turbine design also.
The generator could be easily called the ‘heart’ of the wind turbine as it is the main part of its ‘body’ which keeps it ‘alive’. But there are many other parts whose absence would also make the wind turbine design needless. The blades are a typical example. In fact, they are one of the great factors which determine the efficiency of a wind turbine and the amount of electricity that it could generate. Basically, the bigger the blades are the more efficient and powerful a wind turbine is. Of course there other factors also like the power of the generator, the region and so on.
Well that was pretty much everything which you needed to know about the wind turbine design. As you hopefully figured it out, there is nothing difficult in learning some more about it. Of course there are other elements like foundations, stall controls, pitch controls etc. Knowing of them, however, is not necessary since it is needed only for the professionals having years of experience in the field.
