Wind Turbine Towers

There are many wind turbine towers out there in the world and it is often hard to gauge their magnitude. You see them off in the distance and think that they must be pretty small, but because wind farms are usually located on vast plains and places where there are generally no populations and just fields and fields of grass, it is hard to tell how far away these things are. If you ever get close to one or if you ever see yourself near any one of these things you should be able to tell that these wind turbine towers are actually really tall. Much taller than you’d ever think and if I had to estimate I’d say that they’re at least 500 times taller than your average man, and probably a lot taller than that too. That is just a marking point to reference but they probably really do get much bigger. Without the wind turbine towers, the turbine itself would be nothing, although I should probably be clear here and make sure to remind you that a wind turbine will not have a tower if it is one in your back yard. You can call the length of piping that is likely holding it up, or the steel pole a tower if you want to, but it won’t actually refer to the real purpose of the thing which is to have a tower so high that people can actually reach high up and see the thing.

These taller ones require towers to monitor the progress and to be able to put them at such a height that they will be most effective. For the most part, the higher the blades are placed, the more wind they get. This is not because the wind is stronger or more available in the sky or anything like that, this is because the closer t the ground a turbine is, the more chance there is that something on the ground such as trees or tall grass or anything else that could get in the way of a turbines blades might be, might be obstructing the path of the wind. Even if it seems like ne tree wouldn’t be a significant difference, over years the impeding of the wind will add up and end up costing you unnecessary thousands of dollars you could have saved by chopping down that tree or installing the thing just a bit higher. These are all of the things you need to take into account when you run a wind farm.
